    Great

1.8 km to Peace Gardens. The hotel was in front of Sheffield Midland train station. Thanks a lot for the warm welcome, we would love to come back here some time. Nice place for city trip in Sheffield.

    Great

Unfortunately no air conditioning, the room became relatively warm during the day.

    Great

nice room, comfortable bed. the boss spontaneously gave us champagne, because our son had married the next day.

    Very good

The Hotel was very clean, the staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was one of the best we have had in a Hotel, and service was amazing. We were there for our son's graduation and the hotel experience set the scene for a memorable day. Will be using the Rutland everytime we come to Sheffield again rather than our usual Hotel in Town.

I cannot think of anything that we did not like, we will use the hotel again.

The location is excellent for the University of Sheffield. The staff were very pleasant.

We had a standard double which was a very small room - bed pushed up against a wall and could only be accessed from one side, and only 1 bedside light and table. Only 1 (desk) chair which had to be manoeuvred around, whole room very uncomfortable. £110 for b&b seemed very high for quality of accommodation. Decor of all internal corridors was very dated and dark, bedrooms appear to have been refurbished in recent years, but very dark and already rather worn.

    Nice

The only reason I booked this hotel was that it was the closest to the university as we were going to an open day there and it had free parking.

.The walls of the rooms are very thin so you can hear the shower dripping and the fan from next doors bathroom .You also hear the noise from the street.

Staff were very helpfuland it was convenient

The food was OK but not of a high standard

The location was good; the bathrooms were excellent as were the toiletries. breakfast was excellent despite there being no toast available. plenty of marmalade but no toast?

Rception staff were appalling. administrators rather than professional Hoetl receptionists they need urgent training or reasignment.

    Breakfast Ok

Room very small / Only 1 cahir available for 2 people,/ Air conditioning did not work or was not available (cool setting made no diference- fan did not work) we were wakened at 4am be the fire alarm (False alarm apparantly) no appology was offerer only a curse acknowledgement from night porter and receptionist. price of £90 for anight was not value for money. we were very dissatisfied with our stay. price uncompetative considering the facilities and the hotel publicity saying "not just a hotel experience" I would say not even a reasonable hotel experience at the price.)

    Very good

The meal in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The location was ideal for my meeting at the Hallamshire Hospital

Loo seat was loose. The handle on the wardrobe was broken

    Perfect

Unusual hotel being a group of converted houses but clean and comfortable. Breakfasts extra but very good with attentive and well trained staff. would stay again

The car park spaces are very narrow for modern cars!!

  • 8.8
    Great

The Rutland Hotel is excellently situated for visiting the city centre and the University of Sheffield. Although the hotel has an urban location it has a rural feel to it. There is plenty of car parking, which is a bonus in Sheffield. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms/shower rooms are modern. The restaurant is attractive and has a pleasant outlook over the pretty gardens. Breakfast is plentiful and caters for all requirements - staff know how to make a decent cup of tea. Staff in reception and the restaurant are polite and helpful.

  • 7.4
    Very good

Reception staff - excellent, warm, friendly Location - great for uni and hospitals and easy to get into town

Housekeeping - bad - E.G. soap run out instantly in bath dispenser with no backup (E.G. bar or gel in small bottle); tea bags and biscuits not replaced after first night; only one towel left on second night despite clearly having used two on the first. Reception staff apologised but didn't offer any recompense (I was in Rm 10). Breakfast - avoid the scrambled eggs at all cost!

    Perfect

Nice bedroom - liked the wet room - and plenty of space - facilities . Bed very comfy. Duck salad nice.

Think breakfast is a bit pricy - especially if you only have continental - it makes you have the cooked breakfast to get value for money which is a) unhealthy and b) less sustainable in terms of energy use Rather limited evening meal choice - given that you are not in middle of a restaurant area. - perhaps some more simple and lighter dishes

    Perfect

I wish my university would have afforded me just a slightly higher lodging budget for my conference presentation and participation here in Sheffield for the week. Although I enjoy helping save money for my university, the University of Sheffield conference dormitory housing is actually quite over priced for its minimal offerings (while also more remote in location) when compared to the Rutland. Thanks for a great stay! If in the future I return to Sheffield (which is very possible), I will definitely book with you at the Rutland Hotel.
